Production sound mixer · Sound workflow consultant · CAS Associate

Production sound begins before the first take.

Marco “Tato” Vargas brings production sound into the creative and technical conversation from development and script analysis through production, editorial, and post. Available for productions throughout Spain, Europe & the Caribbean.

The work

Sound is part of the story from the beginning.

The strongest production sound rarely begins on the first day of shooting. It begins by understanding the story, its locations, its visual language, and the way sound will move through the complete production workflow.

Tato works across departments to identify challenges early and develop practical sound strategies that protect the creative intention—from recording and playback to timecode, wireless coordination, data, editorial, and final delivery.

Working approach

Calm under pressure. Prepared for what changes.

Every production creates its own technical and creative challenges. Tato approaches them with preparation, resourcefulness, and a calm, collaborative attitude.

His background in audio, music, computers, electrical systems, networking, data workflows, and production technology helps him understand how systems interact—and find practical solutions when conditions change.

The objective is always the same: protect the performance, support the production, and deliver the strongest possible material to editorial and post.

Music

A foundation in music and recording

Before film became the center of his career, Tato developed his listening and technical instincts in recording studios, music production, and live performance. That experience continues to shape his work whenever a production involves playback, musicians, synchronization, monitoring, or live performance.
